Acid - Techno - Minimal - Trance

remastered 2019

Twenty years after the Diestelman EP by B. Ashra was released on vinyl by the label "Corrosive Media", the remastered EP is now also available in digital format.

Trance - CD of the month RAVE LINE 06.99

B. ASHRA's "Diestelman" is danceable for a long time with its just under 130 characters and yet it gives off such a strange calm that it just seems weird. Very, very slowly, the 303 and percussion sounds accumulate and take you away. This spectacle lasts 11 minutes, in which one can only be a will-less object. Quite aloof brilliant  Askja

Definitely underrated and underpriced. It's a timeless 12" with warm and edgy analogue sounds, that only to some extent fit the former categorization of "Acid, Psy-Trance" listed above.

Sure, the A-track "Diestelman" (nice title, btw, as a German I'd like to know how that came about) justifies those drawers: Its second part is a pretty acidic affair, the 303 is sawing despotically and by this belittles the track a lot, as it basically shifts "Diestelman" from "foot" to "brain", that is to "druggy brain". If the first part's great pulsating rhythm continued undisturbed and had been enriched with only sparks of Acid and some little variations, it would easily work over the whole eleven minutes and much more be my cup of tea.

The B-side leaves those drawers clearly and pulls the whole release more into the that blurry direction of "Techno/Deeper House". B1 "Way to Everywhere" clings a bit to the rhythmic structure of "Diestelman" and offers an interesting alteration and opening of arrangement throughout, the ideas used here could have made two tracks. B2 "Pull" is one of that warm and slow, positively monotonous builders with a trancey drift, quite a mighty one.

Watch out! (Alpha)
